About the Civil Engineering Department

The Civil Engineering Department at Cal Poly Pomona is a leader inpolytechnic education. As the largest undergraduate civilengineering program in the United States, we graduate approximately15 percent of California's new civil engineers. We offer a Bachelorof Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) and a Master of Science inCivil Engineering (MSCE). Our undergraduate program featuresoptions in General Civil, Environmental, and GeospatialEngineering, alongside a degree in Construction Engineering andManagement. At the graduate level, the MSCE program offersspecializations in Construction Engineering and Management,Environmental and Water Resources, Geotechnical, Structural, andTransportation Engineering.

The Position

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions arefilled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding.Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching at shortnotice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends inmid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends inmid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions mayalso be available. We welcome applications from individuals who areexperienced and student-centered to teach in the following subjectareas:

  • Structural Engineering

  • Geospatial Engineering
  • Environmental and Water Resources Engineering

Salary and Benefit Information

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based onprofessional experience and educational background and aredetermined by the hiring department. Initial appointments are forone semester only. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthlybase salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of unitsworked and are paid in six monthly payments for each fullsemester.

Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank andplaced at the beginning of the range. Anticipated hiring rangedepending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month
