About the College of Science

The College's mission is to educate, mentor, and inspire studentsthrough scientific inquiry and hands-on learning. It offers 15undergraduate degree programs and six Master's degrees across sevenacademic departments that include: Biological Sciences, Chemistry& Biochemistry, Computer Science, Geological Sciences,Kinesiology & Health Promotion, Mathematics & Statistics,and Physics & Astronomy. About the Department of ComputerScience

The Computer Science Department at Cal Poly Pomona has a strongABET accredited B.S. program, as well as a high-quality M.S.program, with 18 tenured/tenure-track faculty and 18 part-timelecturers. We embody the principle of an engaged teacher-scholarmodel which emphasizes the learning by doing philosophy. We are aninclusive group of faculties from diverse backgrounds teaching avery diverse group of students. Faculty members share a strongcommitment to collegiality, collaboration, dedicated teaching andinnovative scholarship, active participation in the sharedgovernance of the department, and robust intellectual engagementwith each other and the students. Our teaching and research aresupported by several computing laboratories, some dedicated toinstruction, and others focusing on research. The Position

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions arefilled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on shortnotice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends inmid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends inmid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions mayalso be available. We welcome applications from individuals who areexperienced and student-centered to teach in the following subjectareas:

We serve all subdisciplines of computer science includingfundamentals of programming, data structures, algorithms, operatingsystems, data science, cybersecurity, networks, machine learning,AI, cloud computing, Game development and will considerapplications with specific interests in any subdiscipline. Candidates will be interviewed by the department for teachingeffectiveness in their preferred subject area.

Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline inthe field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university leveland ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching.
