Job summary

Purdue University is seeking a Lecture Demonstration Coordinator in West Lafayette, Indiana to oversee the lecture demonstration facility, coordinate equipment and supplies, develop and maintain demonstrations, and manage department AV resources.

This role also serves as the department's Safety Coordinator, partnering with the Safety & Sustainability Office and EHS to promote compliance, safety, and sustainability across the department.

Qualifications

The Department of Chemistry is seeking a detail-oriented and innovativeLecture Demonstration Coordinator to support engaging classroom experiences and foster a strong culture of safety. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of the lecture demonstration facility, including coordinating equipment and supplies, developing and maintaining demonstrations, managing department audio-visual resources, and supervising undergraduate assistants.

This position also serves as the department's Safety Coordinator, working closely with the Department of Safety & Sustainability Office and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to promote compliance, sustainability, and safety awareness across the department. What We're Looking For

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related area
• At least two (2) years of chemical safety experience

Skills Required:

• Familiarity with safety regulations for proper handling of chemicals and safe practice in chemistry laboratories is required
• Highly organized and able to plan ahead
• Able to:
  • manage student staff and schedules
  • collaborate with faculty for the development of new demonstrations

Preferred:

• Sufficient knowledge of Purdue chemistry course content to be able to initiate new demonstrations
