Steel Dynamics, Inc. in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a full-time Leave & Disability Specialist to join our HR team at the Corporate Office. This role serves as the subject matter expert on leave programs, including FMLA, PWFA, ADA, STD, LTD, Life Insurance and AD&D, ensuring compliance and timely processing.

You will partner with payroll, legal, and occupational health, provide training, and translate complex laws into practical guidance for administrators and supervisors across divisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience administering, supporting, or consulting on FMLA, ADA, PWFA, disability and leave management programs.
• Well-versed in federal and state leave laws and employment regulations, including FMLA, PWFA and ADA.
• Strong familiarity with HRIS (UKG), leave management systems, case management software, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Professional communication, discretion, judgment and ability to work independently.
• PHR or SPHR certification preferred; CLMS or related certification preferred.

Responsabilités

• Interprets and applies leave laws including FMLA, ADA, PWFA and company policies.
• Works with HR, payroll and occupational health on leave cases.
• Coordinates with legal counsel on complex leave matters as needed.
• Serves as primary contact for divisional administrators on leave programs and accommodations.
• Monitors regulatory changes and updates policies and documentation.
• Develops training on leave, ADA accommodations, and compliance.
• Reviews complex matters with Benefits Manager and Legal Counsel.
• Maintains compliance tracking and reporting for regulatory agencies.
