Join Our Team as a Leave Benefit Coordinator: Make a Lasting Impact!

Are you passionate about helping people during life’s most important transitions? Do you thrive in a role where compassion, problem-solving, and attention to detail come together? The OLPA team is looking for dedicated Leave Benefit Coordinators to ensure state employees receive the support they need when navigating family and medical leave.

The Office of Leave Policy Administration (OLPA) is a unit within the Human Resources Division which administers a comprehensive set of family and medical leave benefits for state employees in the Executive Department, spanning approximately eighteen (18) union contracts, the department’s leave policies, and federal/state laws like FMLA and PFML.

In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted resource, guiding employees through leave benefits with care and clarity. Your expertise will make a real difference in their experience, whether welcoming a child, managing health issues, or caring for loved ones.

This is a unique opportunity to join a newly expanded, mission-driven team committed to providing a best-in-class leave experience. You’ll play a key role in shaping leave administration for state employees—helping make state government a great place to work and serve.

If you're detail-oriented, customer-focused, and eager to make an impact, we invite you to apply!

Why You Should Apply:
  • Impactful Work: Help employees access leave benefits that support work-life balance.
  • Career Growth: Be part of an exciting transition in leave program operations, working with a collaborative team.
  • Hybrid Flexibility: Work in both virtual and in-person environments.
  • Compassion at the Core: If you enjoy listening and helping others, this is the role for you!
Key Responsibilities:
  • Guide Employees: Counsel on leave programs, entitlements, and payments.
  • Simplify Complexities: Clarify leave benefits and processes.
  • Ensure Compliance: Interpret and apply laws like FMLA, PFML, ADA, and internal policies.
  • Case Management & Documentation: Maintain accurate records and support compliance.
  • Collaborate: Partner with HR teams to support employees holistically.
  • Stay Current: Keep updated on laws, policies, and agreements.
  • Customer Service: Use communication skills to assist employees through stressful situations.
  • Review Documentation: Ensure medical certifications and supporting documents are complete.
  • Decision-Making: Convey leave eligibility decisions clearly and effectively.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience: Prior work in a unionized environment or with employee benefits is a plus.
  • Collaboration Skills: Effectively work with diverse teams.
  • Adaptability: Manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Critical Thinking: Problem-solving and sound judgment skills.
  • Strong Communicator: Clear written and oral communication skills.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft 365; knowledge of leave management software is a plus.
  • Certifications: CLMS, PHR, or SHRM-CP preferred but not required.
Perks of Working with OLPA:
  • Career Development: Training and workshops to grow your expertise.
  • HR Career Path: Opportunities to explore other HR areas.
  • Mission-Driven Team: Making a difference in employees’ lives.

Ready to make a difference? Apply today to become a Leave Benefit Coordinator with OLPA and help shape employee benefits.
