Job summary

Arapahoe County is seeking a Leave and ADA Specialist to serve as the single point of contact for employee leave and accommodation programs. You will administer FMLA and other leave programs, assess eligibility, and coordinate accommodations in collaboration with Legal, Benefits, Payroll, and HR teams.

This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and compassion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
• Two or more years of leave and disability administration experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and work experience may satisfy the requirements of the job.

Responsibilities

• Coaches and advises employees, management, and HR team members on leave and accommodation processes, legal requirements, and County policies.
• Assesses, adjudicates, and tracks all leave and disability claims in compliance with regulations.
• Administers the ADA interactive process for accommodations and coordinates with relevant teams.
• Collaborates with Legal, HR Managers, Benefits, Payroll and others to coordinate leave extensions and accommodations.
• Reviews medical certifications to determine eligibility under FMLA and related programs.
• Works with directors on non-qualifying leave requests ensuring policy consistency.
• Produces and tracks leave and accommodation documentation; communicates rights and steps to employees and managers.
• Maintains HRIS data integrity for compliance, reporting, and audits.
• Supports return-to-work and fitness-for-duty processes as needed.
• Identifies compliance risks and opportunities for program improvements.
• Assists with training and guidance related to leave and ADA programs.
• Performs other duties as required.
