Leasing Coordinator Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in leasing, property management, or real estate administration (NYC multifamily experience preferred)
- Exceptional organizational skills and strict attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities with a professional, service-oriented approach
- Proficiency with property management software (RentManager experience a plus) and Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with NYC/NYS residential requirements (such as rent stabilization, Good Cause Eviction, and HSTPA) or a willingness to learn these quickly
Leasing Coordinator Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience working with tenant compliance, regulatory filings, and lease documentation
- Comfort coordinating across departments and managing several deadlines at once
Leasing Coordinator Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Prepare, distribute, and track new leases, renewals, and riders across the portfolio to ensure timely and accurate execution
- Manage and monitor lease renewal pipelines, proactively coordinating expiring leases and notice periods
- Process rental applications, collect documentation, and perform credit/background screenings
- Coordinate move-in and move-out logistics, including key handoffs, unit inspections, and security deposit paperwork
- Maintain and update tenant and property records in property management software, ensuring ledgers and payment activity are accurate
- Prepare and track compliance documents and required disclosures (lead-based paint, window guard, sprinkler, rent regulation notices)
- Support accounts receivable by monitoring delinquencies, preparing rent demands and notices, and coordinating with legal counsel as needed
- Serve as a first point of contact for tenant inquiries, delivering prompt and professional communication
