Job summary

Apex Systems is hiring an entry-level Leasing Associate to support a Fortune 500 client in Chesapeake, VA. The role involves managing the financials of a large lease portfolio, overseeing rent, taxes, CAM, and related charges while building strong landlord relationships.

The ideal candidate will have 2 years in commercial real estate or property management, solid accounting knowledge, and strong Excel/Outlook skills. On-site, 6-month contract-to-perm with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• 2 years minimum experience in commercial real estate or commercial property management.
• Understanding of basic accounting; mathematical aptitude.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Proven experience building and maintaining relationships.
• Strong attention to detail and advanced organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to deadlines with urgency.
• Ability to work with little supervision.
• Strong PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial aspects of a portfolio of approximately 650+ store leases.
• Oversee, review, process, and approve lease-related financial transactions (Rent, taxes, CAM, insurance) while maintaining relationships with Landlords.
• Review payment schedules in excess of $6.5 million per month for assigned portfolio of stores.
• Review and interpret legal documents to determine operating expense accuracy.
• Perform desktop audits of landlord year-end reconciliations and validate charges.
• Analyze landlord statements and dispute incorrect charges or increases.
• Review and resolve past due balances and reconciliations.
• Maintain database of the assigned portfolio to monitor workflow and savings.
• Resolve landlord disputes with Landlords, Lease Accounting Manager, and Legal Counsel.
• Assist with various projects and other duties.
