The Learning Support Specialist (LSS) supports the operation ofStudent Academic Support Services by providing professionaltutoring services and assisting with carrying out academic supportprograms and services. The LSS works with SAS/Tutoringadministration and staff to ensure efficient program operations,including scheduling, providing information, and taking part inoutreach activities as needed. The LSS tutors are in an area ofacademic credentials and expertise, usually for introductorycourses, in person, one‑on‑one or in small groups, to help studentsattain a deeper and more substantial command of the assignedsubject matter. The LSS must be able to work with others present ina shared space. The LSS must have a strong command of the subjectmatter and be able to communicate it effectively to students usinga variety of methods.
