Qualifications

Job Summary

The Learning Support Specialist (LSS) supports the operation of Student Academic Support Services by providing professional tutoring services, assisting with academic support programs, and ensuring efficient program operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual or small‑group tutoring in introductory courses within the specialist’s area of expertise.
• Arrange scheduling, provide information, and participate in outreach activities to support program operations.
• Assist with the daily operations of the Tutoring Center, including documentation of sessions and generation of reports.
• Maintain proficiency with the college’s tutoring and record‑keeping software.
• Assist with marketing and outreach activities for SAS/Tutoring Services.
• Support the training and mentoring of Peer Learning Success Leaders.
• Stay current on course material, instructional methodologies, and student learning styles.
• Attend staff training sessions and contribute to a culture of respect and inclusivity.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or higher in an academic field relevant to the tutoring discipline.
• Minimum of six (6) months of teaching, tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, or equivalent learning‑support experience.
• Strong command of subject matter and effective communication skills for diverse learners.
• Ability to work collaboratively in shared spaces.
• State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or demonstrated ability to gain access to work site(s).
