Marist University is seeking a full-time Learning Specialist for the Accommodations & Accessibility office. The role focuses on providing individualized academic support to students in the Learning Support Program at the main campus.

Responsibilities include teaching time management, organization, writing support, and assisting with college transition and self-advocacy. Collaboration with faculty and advisement are essential to ensure accessibility and success for all students.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Higher Education Administration or related field.
• 1-3 years of related experience.
• Computer competence and excellent time management skills required.

Mansioni

• Teach time management and organizational skills, as well as study skills and test-taking strategies.
• Provide direct assistance with all aspects of the writing process.
• Assist students with their transition to college and development of self-advocacy skills.
• Review student documentation and conduct intake to evaluate learning needs and design accommodations and services.
• Provide academic advisement assisting with course selection, and make referrals to academic advisors regarding major/minor requirements.
• Work with faculty and staff to provide appropriate accommodations and monitor academic progress. Communicate with parents as needed to support student's success.
• Refer students to campus resources including Writing Center, Academic Learning Center, Center for Advising and Academic Services, Math Lab, Counseling Services, Health and Wellness Center, and Career Services.
• Assist in the development and execution of programs and workshops to support students in the Learning Support Program and educate faculty and staff regarding disability related issues.
• Other duties as assigned.
