• Assess individual student learning needs
• Help students develop compensatory learning skills in study strategies, organization, time management, reading and writing, note taking, and test taking
• Provide consistent and systematic structure for implementing these skills
• Coordinate services with other on-campus academic support providers according to student need
• Maintain an electronic summary of student progress
• Communicate with SAASS staff regarding student status and progress
• Participate in bi-monthly staff meetings
• Support Miami University and Intercollegiate Athletics with institutional compliance with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations
• Provide one-on-one guidance to strengthen students' academic, time management, and organizational skills

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Experience working with students in an educational setting
• At least one year of experience applying effective learning strategies in an educational setting
• Experience working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences
• Experience gained during internships and/or graduate assistantships may be counted at half-time toward these requirements
• Understanding of effective learning strategies
• A criminal background check is required
• Must comply with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations

• Preferred: At least one year of experience working with students in higher education
• Preferred: teaching certificate and/or at least one year of experience providing one-on-one academic support
• Professional tutoring or teaching experience is a plus
