Job summary

East Central College seeks a Learning & Retention Specialist (grant funded) to provide tutoring and success coaching for students, faculty, staff, and community. The role includes embedding tutoring, outreach, and using retention software to monitor progress.

The position supports student retention, helps with time management and study skills, and collaborates with the Retention Manager to expand tutoring programs and services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; tutoring experience preferred.
• Tested experience in student success, retention, teaching, and/or academic support roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring services to students in English, both online and on campus; embed as tutor in assigned courses.
• Serve as a Success Coach with caseloads of 200+ students; provide timely interventions to support academic progress.
• Assist Retention Manager with outreach, success coaching, and use of retention software.
• Understand and use retention software to record notes and communicate with students.
• Support students adapting to college and transitioning to alternative modalities.
• Provide information about programs and services to students and faculty.
