Job summary

Young World Physical Education is seeking a Learning Management System Implementation Specialist (0.6 FTE) to support the implementation of Canvas LMS in Needham Public Schools. This part-time role will involve consulting on technical configurations and providing training to staff.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, excellent communication skills, and technical experience with Canvas. The contract extends from August 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027.

Job Description

Needham Public Schools is an inclusive, dynamic, and multicultural community seeking an energetic, skilled, and warm Learning Management System Implementation Specialist (temp) to join our team. This part‑time, benefits‑eligible consultant role will support the initial implementation of the Canvas LMS across the district, acting as a bridge between IT and the Media and Digital Learning department.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a consultant for the technical implementation and district‑wide deployment of the Canvas LMS platform, acting as a key internal resource for technical configurations and workflow optimization in collaboration with the MDL and Applications team.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison between Information Technology and Media and Digital Learning (MDL) regarding the Canvas LMS.
• In collaboration with the Director of Instructional Technology and Innovation, provide specialized training and direct 1:1 coaching for Technology Integration Specialists and other technology staff, as needed.
• Resolve technical help desk tickets related to Canvas, encompassing technical support, break/fix issues, and instructional strategy inquiries, as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Demonstrated Canvas certification (e.g., Canvas Certified Educator) preferred.
• Demonstrated, in‑depth knowledge of Instructure’s Canvas LMS Platform, including platform configuration, accessibility features, reporting/analytics, and Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) management/setup.
• Proven technical knowledge and experience in LMS administration and implementation.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross‑departmental engagement.
• Strong technological proficiency, particularly in MacOS and Google Workspace environments.

Additional Information

• Schedule/Work Hours: 11‑month contract from August 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027, excluding state and federal holidays. 0.6 FTE: 7 hours a day for 155 work days. Salary: Independent contract, Grade H: $51,603 – $59,003.
