Job summary

Shive-Hattery is seeking a Learning Design Specialist in Cedar Rapids, IA. This role joins the Marketing team to transform expertise into engaging learning experiences that help employees grow their skills and apply knowledge across the firm.

You’ll partner with subject matter experts and corporate teams to translate complex information into clear, accessible training using video, e-learning, and instructor-led formats. This role emphasizes growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Associate, bachelor’s or advanced degree in education, instructional design, learning and development, communications or a related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in instructional design, learning design, education or a related field.
• Understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design models.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of accessibility best practices and inclusive learning experiences.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and collaborative mindset.
• Experience with learning development tools including video editing and e-learning authoring tools.
• Ability to simplify complex information for learning.

Responsibilities

• Design engaging learning experiences that support firm priorities and professional development.
• Translate SME expertise into clear, relevant learning across formats (instructor-led, virtual, e-learning, video).
• Transform recordings and resources into polished on-demand learning with accessible captions and visuals.
• Develop and improve Shive-Hattery University, Learning Center and learning pathways.
• Create and curate content that is easy to discover and apply.
