Job summary

Huntsville City Schools is seeking an In House Learning Center Assistant to support teachers in classrooms, resource centers, and other school areas.

The role involves supervising students, assisting with lesson plans and instructional activities, preparing materials, and helping with field trips and the use of technology.

The position requires an Associate degree or two years of college (or WorkKeys scores); experience working with children is preferred.

Qualifications

• An Associate’s degree (or higher) OR two years of full-time study at an institution of higher education OR passing test scores in WorkKeys.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the general supervision of students both inside and outside the classroom during instruction, lunch, recess, special activities, etc. for the purpose of enforcing appropriate rules and procedures.
• Works directly with students on an individual or group basis to administer lesson plans, provide instructional assistance, and reinforce mastery of developmental objectives.
• Participates in the development and planning of effective lesson plans, instructional activities, and class assignments.
• Prepares, secures, and arranges materials, equipment, and resources for instructional use and maintains an organized learning environment.
• Assists students with personal hygiene needs and teaches related routines.
• Assists in planning and scheduling class field trips and educational activities to support curriculum.
• Assists with use and care of technology and district equipment in compliance with established.
• Participates in required professional development activities.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
