Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS I or LBS II Endorsement required.
• Experience working with staff to diagnose and service students with varying disabilities and emotional behavioral concerns.
• Collaborative skills with staff members and parents to optimize student achievement.
• Strong commitment to professional expertise and continual professional development.
• Understanding of adult learning styles and the change process.
• Knowledge of varied models and methods of assessment that yield information useful in identifying strengths and needs.
• Expertise in developing behavioral, affective, adaptive and social goals for students and implementing interventions.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of the building principal and the Director of Student Services, implement the instructional program and evaluate student progress.
• Assess student needs, determine learning objectives and plan activities.
• Maintain student records and a safe learning environment.
• Foster positive relationships with parents and participate in district and school committees.
• Identify special needs of students and work with pupil personnel staff to meet those needs.
• Participate in CPI training and motivate students through positive feedback.
• Promote positive behavior and help students develop responsibility.
