The Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for delivering effective training programs to enhance colleagues' knowledge, skills, and performance to ensure they are equipped to excel within the industry. The role involves collaborating with various departments to identify regional training needs, enhancing engaging training materials, facilitating training sessions, and evaluating the effectiveness of training initiatives. The primary focus of the Learning & Development Specialist is collaboratively designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive training programs that cover technical, soft, and customer service skills to deliver the Next Level of Service.
Development
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify training needs and learning objectives
- Assist in designing and developing comprehensive training programs that align with the firm goals and industry standards, emphasizing the ongoing development of current staff members
- Assist in designing and creating engaging training materials, including presentations, facilitator guides, participant guides, e-learning modules, videos, and manuals
- Enhance training content and delivery methods based on feedback and industry trends
- Remain knowledgeable and up to date on adult learning principles and instructional design techniques
Service
- Organize and lead engaging training sessions, ensuring high participant engagement and retention
- Foster a productivity, development, diversity, and inclusion culture by integrating relevant materials into training materials
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to leverage training resources and expertise
Teamwork
- Collaborate with department managers, team leads, and subject matter experts to gain insight into the need for effective training programs
- Work closely with the Learning & Development Team to ensure training content meets the needs of all colleague levels and roles
- Support the Learning & Development Team to foster a collaborative training and development environment
- Assist and support the Training Specialist
Productivity
- Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) and other training software tools to track, organize, and manage training programs efficiently
- Evaluate and report on training program effectiveness through assessments, evaluations, and feedback to maximize training outcomes
- Ensure timely delivery and high-quality training while managing multiple training projects.
Technical Ability / Business Knowledge
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of industry standards in training and development
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of the firm's goals, organization, and roles
- Demonstrate solid technical writing skills, including proofreading, editing, and quality assurance
Supervisory responsibilities
- Office Space
- Work is conducted in a professional office environment to develop training materials, communicate with stakeholders, and manage administrative tasks related to training programs
- Training Facilities
- In-person training is conducted in dedicated training rooms within the organization and conference room settings at venues
- Audiovisual Equipment is required in all live in-person training sessions, including tools such as projectors, screens, microphones, and interactive software
Physical demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
Travel required
- Travel may be required up to 25% to local and non-local office or venue settings
Required education and experience
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- High School Diploma or GED or High School equivalent certificate
- Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS)
- Familiar with adult learning principles and training evaluation techniques
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite products
Preferred education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, or related field
- Experience with Articulate, LCvista, Docebo, and Lattice
