Summary
The Learning & Development (L&D) Specialist will play a key role on a team dedicated to attracting, developing, and retaining top talent at Brown University Health. This role involves supporting the execution of various training programs, including new employee and leader orientations, managerial development, career development, and basic business skills. The L&D Specialist will schedule and coordinate training sessions, facilitate engaging learning experiences in both virtual and in-person settings, administer evaluations, and maintain training documentation and records.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- At least 1 year of experience in training and development, e-learning, organizational development, or a related area
- At least 1 year of documented experience in adult learning and instructional design
- Passion for learning, enhancing employee capabilities, and achieving business results through people development
- Excellent public speaking and verbal communication skills in a corporate environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively with leaders and HR partners to deliver results
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proactive and able to take initiative without waiting for instructions
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and motivate groups of varying sizes
- Knowledge of learning management systems and e-learning tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate engaging learning experiences for managers and employees through in-person and virtual training sessions
- Partner with Talent Management team members to develop leadership and management development programs using expertise in adult learning and instructional design
- Identify training needs by collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders
- Work with SMEs to co-create and review training content, ensuring accuracy and relevance
- Develop comprehensive training programs across various learning mediums, including self-paced, instructor-led, and interactive formats
- Partner with Learning Operations to create multimedia content using e-learning tools
- Coordinate and schedule training sessions, maintain electronic records, and ensure documentation accuracy
- Develop and track metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of talent initiatives
- Meet periodically with SMEs to assess the usefulness of training offerings
- Provide instructional design input as an internal consultant when needed
- Assist with designing learning paths and managing workflows on the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Analyze LMS data and share insights to improve training programs
- Perform additional duties as assigned
