Job summary

The University of Toledo is hiring for a Private Swim Lessons & Group Instructor within the Student Rec Center. This role involves delivering Learn-to-Swim instruction, supervising safety, and coordinating group and private sessions for students.

The position requires current or obtainable Red Cross certifications, strong First Aid and CPR/AED skills, and the ability to manage classes of up to 10 participants.

Qualifications

• Must be certified in American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or equivalent, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
• Be proficient in First Aid, CPR/AED, and water skills per American Red Cross standards.
• Be able to evaluate and give corrective feedback to participants and manage up to 10 participants per class.

Responsibilities

• Be familiar with American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim levels and materials; use course materials effectively.
• Adapt teaching approaches to participants' age and ability to meet course objectives.
• Maintain a safe, controlled learning environment and respond to emergencies per Emergency Action Plan.
• Communicate progress with participants and parents and submit attendance information timely.
• Teach at least one group session and two private lessons per semester.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings within the employee group and department.
• Attend trainings and meetings within the department including Leadership and Training Week.
• Clean and maintain equipment and mannequins as required.
