Job summary

Beacon Health System is seeking a Learn to Swim instructor to deliver quality swimming lessons under supervision, ensure a safe and engaging environment, and adapt instruction to participants’ abilities. The role supports aquatics programming and requires safety certifications.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and ARC Water Safety Instructor certification (or plan to obtain within 3 months), with flexibility to work mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• ARC Water Safety Instructor certification within 3 months of hire.
• Background in aquatics programming preferred.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification or plan to obtain within 3 months.
• Willingness to work mornings, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Arrive early and stay after classes to answer questions.
• Select safe, effective lesson plans and assess participants’ abilities.
• Follow the scheduled format and maintain appropriate skill levels.
• Maintain a safe, enjoyable environment for all students.
• Cue movements so participants perform movements smoothly.
• Demonstrate dedication to improving swimmers’ ability and enjoyment.
• Adjust class routines to support participant progression.
• Assist with pool area setup and post-class cleanup.
• Support coordinators and facility staff and events.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
• Follow substitution policies and minimize substitutes.
• Address client feedback promptly.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
