Job summary

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak region is seeking a Learn & Play Associate who is enthusiastic, compassionate and patient to help kids learn and grow through play and hands-on activities. You will provide leadership and safety supervision for children in youth programs and support a welcoming, respectful environment.

Responsibilities include planning weekly curricula, supervising activities, enforcing age-appropriate discipline, and maintaining equipment, records, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Experience with children and leading recreational activities preferred.
• Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certification.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare, plan and implement a weekly curriculum.
• Supervise and participate with participants during all large and small group activities.
• Provide discipline for participants that are age appropriate and maintains respect for the child.
• Demonstrate proper care and storage of equipment and supplies.
• Communicate effectively with all other staff, parents, and children.
• Primary Responder for all accidents and incidents.
• Supervise locker rooms and swim with children.
• Complete routine and required forms: attendance, observation, incident and injury reports.
• Prepare snack or meals as assigned.
• May be required to work hours outside of normal work schedule for trainings.

Each day, our Learn & Play Associates have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the children, creating joy in each child's life by teaching through play and hands-on activities.This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Learn & Play Associate will give leadership, direction, and supervision to children and participants in youth programs.
