Job summary

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region in Colorado Springs is seeking a Learn & Play Associate who loves working with kids and teaching through play. You will help plan weekly activities, supervise groups, and ensure safety. CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years.
• Experience with children leading recreational activities preferred.
• Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certifications.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare, plan and implement a weekly curriculum.
• Supervise and participate with participants during all large and small group activities.
• Provide discipline for participants that are age appropriate and maintains respect for the child.
• Possess a working knowledge of safety and emergency procedures and be able to exercise sound judgment.
• Demonstrate proper care and storage of equipment and supplies.
• Communicate effectively with all other staff, parents, and children.
• Primary Responder for all accidents and incidents.
• Supervise locker rooms and swim with children.
• Complete routine and required forms to include attendance records, observation records, and incident and injury reports.
• Prepare snacks or meals as assigned.
• May be required to work hours outside of normal work schedule for trainings, extended program

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Learn & Play Associate will give leadership, direction, and supervision to children and participants in youth programs. You play a key role in ensuring that program participants have a safe, supportive, positive, interactive and enriching program experience that welcomes and respects all individuals while providing programmed activities.
