Job summary

Kansas State University Olathe's LEAPS division seeks a Director to lead the LEAPS core facility operations, manage an advanced analytical laboratory, and develop client-focused testing and research solutions. The role supports education, collaboration, and future staff growth while advancing analytical science with industry partners.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, ensure safety and quality standards, install and troubleshoot instrumentation, and collaborate on fee-for-service testing

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience.
• Education beyond the minimum degree requirement may count toward required experience if deemed relevant by the hiring manager.
• The degree requirement ensures candidates possess the advanced theoretical knowledge, specialized methodologies and critical problem-solving skills essential for managing complex research operations and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Valid driver's licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the LEAPS core laboratory, including workflow coordination, laboratory safety, compliance, documentation, and quality practices.
• Manage laboratory inventory, purchasing, equipment service needs, and budget-related functions.
• Operate, adapt, install, maintain, and troubleshoot scientific equipment used in research and analytical laboratories.
• Develop, optimize, validate, and implement analytical methods using GC-MS, LC-MS, LC-HRMS, and related analytical platforms for various sample inputs.
• Analyze and interpret data; prepare reports, data visualizations, technical procedures, and client-facing summaries of results.
• Support onboarding, training, and day-to-day direction of laboratory support personnel as testing volume expands.
