Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. is seeking a maintenance/shop technician in Portland, OR to support Lean 5S initiatives and fixture design. You will construct shop aids, label and organize equipment, and help drive continuous improvement and safety across the department.

Qualifications

• Lead a cleaning crew by scheduling tasks to meet deadlines.
• Experience using hand and power tools incl. routers and table saws.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions on work orders.
• Effective communication and coordination with others.
• Basic shop math skills.
• Organizational skills to manage information and materials.
• A valid driver’s license where driving PCC vehicles is required.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to lift 30–50 lbs, team lifts up to 75 lbs.
• Willingness to work in noisy, dusty, variable conditions and complete safety training.

Responsibilities

• Construct shop aids for 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply labels, paint, and tape to flooring and equipment for organization.
• Interface with departments on cost saving and safety improvements.
• Construct and maintain X-ray backups.
• Cut lightweight pipes and wood, assemble parts, and deliver components.
• Assist in fixture, shop aide, and table design.
• Develop and maintain material lists for supported departments.
• Install and maintain floor coatings.
• Manage incoming stores and control costs.
• Perform basic welding, cutting, and grinding as assigned.
• Adhere to safety requirements and participate in training and evaluations.
• Maintain regular attendance and perform overtime as required.
• Perform other tasks as directed.
