Job summary

Ashton North LLC in Bay Shore, NY seeks an Operational Excellence Manager to drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement on the shop floor. You will lead projects across machining, inspection, tooling, and planning teams to reduce waste and improve throughput, quality, and cost metrics.

This hands-on role requires 7+ years in manufacturing with Lean/CI leadership, strong analytics, and an ability to influence cross-functional teams while sustaining long-term improvements onsite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field.
• At least 7 years of progressive manufacturing experience, including 3 years leading Lean/CI/OE initiatives.
• Demonstrated results in waste reduction, throughput improvement, setup reduction, labor productivity, quality, inventory, or cost savings.
• Hands-on proficiency with value-stream mapping, kaizen, A3/PDCA, 5S/6S, standard work, visual management, SMED, root-cause analysis, and flow and pull systems.
• Experience in machining, aerospace, defense, precision manufacturing, or a similarly regulated environment.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to connect operational improvements to validated financial results.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive change without relying solely on direct authority.
• Strong communication, coaching, and project execution skills.
• Ability to work onsite and spend substantial time on the manufacturing floor.

Responsibilities

• Identify waste, bottlenecks, and variation; map value streams and analyze data.
• Lead kaizen events from planning to sustained results.
• Apply Lean methods and drive improved throughput and capacity.
• Improve material, labor, and information flow across functions.
• Establish daily management systems and sustainment audits.
• Develop Lean champions and process owners; engage employees in problem solving.
• Collaborate across Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Finance, HR.
• Communicate progress, benefits, risks, and decisions to leadership.
