Lean Production Supervisor - Safety & Efficiency Leader

Job summary

ESAB in the United States is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead a unionized manufacturing team, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery across shifts. You will coach and develop associates, manage timecards, drive Lean initiatives, and partner with value stream managers.

This role requires strong leadership, manufacturing supervision experience, and the ability to work day, night, or weekend shifts as needed, with a focus on optimizing cost and productivity in a dynamic facility.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in business related field preferred; experience may substitute.
• 3+ years supervisory experience in manufacturing; union experience preferred.
• Ability to work additional hours including weekends.
• Strong leadership and management abilities.
• Highly organized, proactive and able to prioritize tasks.
• Analytical skills to identify safety, quality and production improvements.
• Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Proficient with Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Experience with WorkDay and SAP is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to safety programs and mandatory PPE.
• Participate in post-incident investigations and RCCM documentation.
• Support safety policies and zero-incident culture initiatives.
• Drive engagement and accountability for standard work.
• Perform Leader Standard Work to maximize efficiency and coordinate plant functions.
• Lead daily department meetings and communicate updates.
• Monitor costs, overtime, waste, and staffing within budget.
• Approve timecards and vacation requests per guidelines.
• Coach, develop and recognize associates; address performance concerns.
• Engage in Lean initiatives (6S, GEMBA, RCCM, Visual Management).
• Suggest process improvements to reduce costs and scrap.
• Meet production goals across Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost and Delivery.
• Coordinate with shift supervision and Value Stream Managers for smooth transitions.
• Communicate with HR and Quality timely; ensure training completion.
• Support policy adherence and participate in disciplinary processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
