Job summary

James Hardie invites ambitious engineering students to join a 12‑week summer internship in Minnesota. You will review plant operations, map value streams, identify bottlenecks, and drive kaizen events to reduce waste and improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

You will apply Lean principles, plan events with clear metrics, and communicate results to operational leaders while gaining hands‑on experience with mentoring and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in a relevant discipline at an accredited university, with anticipated graduation between December 2027 and May 2029 (rising senior/junior).
• Minimum GPA 3.0 required.
• Available to work full‑time for 12 weeks during summer 2027.
• Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Review manufacturing processes and current work documents.
• Create current‑state value stream maps and identify bottlenecks/waste.
• Plan and participate in focused kaizen events with measurable metrics.
• Support implementation of sustainable value‑stream changes.
• Measure improvements using safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics.
