Job summary

FXI in Auburn, IN is seeking a Process & Continuous Improvement Engineer to lead capital projects and drive LEAN improvements across manufacturing centers. You will bridge engineering, maintenance, and operations, targeting increased throughput and reliability.

The role covers plant engineering, value stream mapping, standard work, 5S, kaizen events, root cause analysis, and supporting troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and fluid systems. On-site with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of five years of manufacturing shop floor experience.
• Prior capital project management experience (scoping, cost estimating, installation, commissioning).
• Demonstrated machine and equipment troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to build ROI justification and cost/benefit analyses.
• LEAN continuous improvement activity experience; Six Sigma/LEAN certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop capital project justifications, scopes of work, estimates, and schedules.
• Manage equipment specification, installation, commissioning, validation, and training.
• Lead LEAN improvement activities (value stream mapping, 5S, standard work, SMED, kaizen).
• Apply structured problem-solving (A3, DMAIC, 5-Why, fishbone) to losses.
• Establish and track metrics (OEE, scrap, cycle time) and report savings.
• Document changes and update SOPs, flows, and layouts.
