Continuous Improvement Process Engineer - Manufacturing
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Schedule: Monday-Friday, daytime hours
Position Summary
A well-established manufacturing organization is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to lead plant-floor improvement projects focused on process consistency, productivity, quality, waste reduction, and cost savings.
This person will use data to understand why manufacturing processes are not performing as expected, identify root causes, implement improvements, and measure the results.
Responsibilities
- Analyze manufacturing processes for inefficiencies, variation, bottlenecks, and waste
- Lead process-improvement projects from problem identification through implementation
- Use data and statistical methods to identify root causes
- Improve cycle time, throughput, quality, yield, scrap, and overall equipment performance
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
- Conduct process mapping and structured experiments
- Evaluate how equipment settings and process inputs affect final product results
- Develop corrective actions and standardized processes
- Partner with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance
- Track project performance and ensure improvements are sustained
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Quality, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of manufacturing process improvement or continuous improvement experience
- Hands-on experience with DOE, MSA/Gauge R&R, and Value Stream Mapping
- Experience using data to solve manufacturing process problems
- Strong root-cause analysis and project-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple improvement projects simultaneously
Preferred
- Lean or Six Sigma certification
- Experience in automotive, aerospace, metals, or other complex manufacturing
- Experience with OEE, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, SPC, or process capability
- Statistical-analysis software experience
- Project-management certification
