Job summary

AJM Packaging Corporation in Metro Detroit seeks an Assistant Plant Manager to drive high-speed manufacturing, ensure quality, safety and efficiency across production, maintenance, inventory, and shipping.

The candidate should bring Lean expertise (5S, VSM, TPM, JIT) and a hands-on, Gemba leadership style, with 7+ years in 24/7 operations and a proven record of continuous improvement and OTIF delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering preferred.
• Seven or more years of operations management in 24/7 high volume manufacturing.
• Lean principles expertise with ability to drive transformation (Black Belt preferred).
• Strong leadership, communications, and organizational skills.
• Hands-on, Gemba management style with safety and quality focus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and manage the plant and staff to meet objectives and production goals.
• Drive a Lean and Continuous Improvement program across the facility with measurable changes.
• Ensure maintenance excellence for machinery and facilities.
• Maintain customer service focus and OTIF delivery schedules.
• Oversee inventory, procurement requests for materials and equipment.
• Supervise production supervisors and managers; drive performance management.
• Provide operator/ technician training to enhance skills.
• Promote safety and enforce quality standards.
• Handle special projects as assigned.
