Job summary

Daimler Truck North America invites motivated students to join our summer internship in Cleveland, NC. Interns will analyze material flow, support warehouse operations, and participate in continuous improvement projects within our logistics organization.

You will develop data analysis skills using Excel and Power BI, learn SAP/WMS concepts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program or recent graduate within 1 year.
• Pursuing a degree in engineering or a related field.
• Lean principles training or experience.
• Experience with waste elimination and continuous improvement preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, data analysis) and Power BI.
• Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems, WMS, Visio, and AutoCAD.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Customer-oriented mindset with the drive to create practical solutions.
• Ability to work cross-functional in a dynamic environment.
• Effective communication and openness to feedback.
• Passion for the automotive or trucking industry.

Responsibilities

• Analyze material flow and inventory data to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities that support reliable delivery of parts to production.
• Support daily warehouse and logistics operations by helping monitor material shortages, investigating root causes, and assisting in the resolution of supply disruptions.
• Lead or contribute to process improvement projects focused on increasing efficiency, reducing waste, and improving accuracy within warehouse and internal transportation processes.
• Develop and maintain reports and dashboards that provide visibility into key operational metrics, helping the team make data-driven decisions.
• Partner with supervisors and cross-functional teams to improve communication and coordination between warehouse operations, production, and planning functions.
• Document standard work and support the development of process improvements that enhance safety, quality, and productivity across the logistics operation.
• Present findings, insights, and recommendations to department leadership, building communication and problem-solving skills in a professional environment
• Support digitalization efforts by helping improve tracking and reporting tools used to monitor material shortages and inventory accuracy.
• Assist in identifying opportunities to optimize warehouse layout, material flow paths, and storage strategies to improve efficiency.
• Lead and support efforts to foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture where everyone belongs
