Job summary

GE HealthCare seeks a Lean Intern to join its manufacturing operations in Salt Lake City. You’ll perform time studies, document standard work, and support kaizen activities to drive operational excellence across production lines.

You’ll lead problem‑solving efforts using PSP and A3 methods, develop visual controls, and collaborate with frontline operators to sustain improvements while supporting 5S initiatives. Ideal candidates are pursuing IE/Manufacturing with strong analytics.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA and at least Sophomore standing.
• Must be returning to school after the internship and able to work on-site.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Time Studies: observe and record cycle times to establish baselines.
• Document Standard Work: create and maintain standard work charts and tables.
• Support Kaizen Events: participate in at least one kaizen team and contribute to improvements.
• Identify and implement improvements: analyze areas for waste and propose solutions.
• Lead and support problem solving: use PSP and A3 methodologies to find root causes.
• Visual management: develop and update visual controls and performance boards.
• Engage with operators: collaborate to validate standard work and sustain improvements.
• Support 5S initiatives: assist in organizing workspaces and 5S audits.
