Job summary

GE Vernova seeks a Lean Operations / Continuous Improvement Intern to support daily management, Kaizen events and data analysis on the plant floor in Grand Forks, ND. You will work closely with operations, maintenance, quality and engineering teams to drive improvements and gain hands-on exposure to 5S, VSM and standard work.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Business.
  • Strong interest in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and plant operations.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to collect, organize and interpret data.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and data/reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of Daily Management using Lean software on the floor.
  • Assist digital lean initiatives with Power BI, Excel and Smartsheet.
  • Support problem-solving activities using Lean methodologies.
  • Track KPIs to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with BiQ rollout and data gathering for lean projects.
  • Participate in Kaizen events to improve safety, quality and delivery.
  • Identify process improvements and help execute action plans.
  • Collaborate with plant teams to deploy 5S, value stream mapping and standard work.

Job Description Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lean Operations / Continuous Improvement Intern to support key operational excellence initiatives within our plant environment. This internship is a great opportunity for a student or early-career professional interested in lean manufacturing, daily management systems, workplace organization, and data analysis

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation ofDaily Management utilizing iObeya (New Daily ManagementSoftware)

  • Assist with digital Lean initiatives using tools such as Power BI, Excel, Smartsheet

  • Support problem-solving activities using Lean methodologies

  • Assist tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for improvement

  • Provide support forBiQ (Built in Quality) rollout initiatives

  • Conductdata gathering, tracking, and analysisto support lean and operational improvement projects

  • Participate in Kaizen events to improve Safety, Quality and Delivery

  • Help identify process improvement opportunities and support execution of action plans

  • Collaborate with plant teams and stakeholders to ensure successful deployment of continuous improvement initiatives like 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work to improve workplace organization, efficiency, and safety

This is not a “sit-behind-a-desk” internship. The selected candidate will spend significant time on the production floor interacting with operations, maintenance, quality, engineering, and leadership teams.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree inEngineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field

  • Strong interest inlean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and plant operations

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to collect, organize, and interpret data

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Proficiency inMicrosoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other basic data/reporting tools

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing or operational environment with cross-functional teams
