Job summary

Actalent seeks a Manufacturing Engineer in Owatonna, MN to analyze and improve production processes, implement lean strategies, and drive capital projects from concept to implementation. You will design tools and layouts, support NPI and CNC programming, and ensure safety and quality across operations.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 3+ years of experience, and strong CAD skills (SolidWorks/AutoCAD).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical systems
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Experience with ERP, MRP, and CRM systems
  • Lean manufacturing and process improvement knowledge
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills
  • Strong project management and communication skills
  • Collaborative team player with cross-functional experience
  • Ability to design for manufacturability and support NPI

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, develop, and improve manufacturing processes to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and optimize productivity.
  • Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies to streamline production operations.
  • Lead capital project implementations and ROI analyses.
  • Design and modify production tools, fixtures, and equipment for safe, cost-effective operations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and sales to develop quality standards and inspection protocols.
  • Monitor product quality and process performance, identify root causes of defects.
  • Prepare and revise CAD drawings and layouts for fabrication.
  • Develop quality control plans and support CNC programming for new product introductions.
  • Ensure safety standards and regulatory compliance across operations.
  • Train personnel on new processes and updated procedures.
  • Produce detailed process documentation and work instructions.
  • Assist with prototyping and testing to refine manufacturing processes.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and cross‑functional delivery.
  • Evaluate staffing, capacity, and performance to inform leadership decisions.
