Job summary

ASSA ABLOY in Berlin, CT is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead product improvements, cost reductions, and new product development. You will develop processes, lean manufacturing practices, and coordinate with design engineers to implement innovative manufacturing solutions onsite at our Berlin, CT facility.

The role requires 3-5 years of experience, a BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, and strong teamwork with excellent communication.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience preferred; recent grads with solid intern experience considered.
• BS in Mechanical Engineering and/or Manufacturing or equivalent.
• Lean manufacturing practices: Kanban, Poke-Yoke, JIT, Value Stream Mapping.
• Experience with assembly operations, metal machining processes and tool design.
• Ability to think progressively and for the future of the company.
• Excellent teamwork and collaboration capabilities.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes.
• Develop quality plans for products.
• Implement corrective actions based on root-cause analysis.
• Develop lean procedures to reduce lead time and promote visual factory.
• Plan, commission and maintain machine and assembly production lines.
• Lead quality improvement through training and new processes.
• Manage equipment purchase and installation.
• Prepare manufacturing documentation and coordinate projects.
• Collaborate with internal/external customers and vendors for technical support.
• Serve as key member of Product Design Team to develop/new products.
• Establish and maintain cellular layouts.
• Lead meetings with team members and hourly associates.
