Job summary

igus Inc. in Rumford, RI seeks a Lean Manufacturing Engineer to drive process improvements using Lean and Six Sigma, aiming to increase efficiency, cut costs, and improve quality across the plant.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's in a related field, 1–3 years in manufacturing, and is proficient in data analysis and tools like Minitab, Excel, and Visio. You will train teams, facilitate Kaizen events, and collaborate with engineering, quality, and production to sustain gains.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing/operations environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
  • Proficient in data analysis and process mapping tools (Minitab, Excel, Visio).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support cross-functional teams on process improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools.
  • Analyze production processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze data to identify waste, variation, and inefficiency.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
  • Develop and deploy SOPs, visual controls, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to enhance process design and layout.
  • Monitor KPIs to assess improvement outcomes and sustainability.
  • Train and mentor team members on CI principles and tools.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align improvements with strategic goals.
  • Support new product introductions by ensuring Lean process integration.
  • Document and communicate progress, successes, and lessons learned.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to eliminate waste and optimize processes.
