Job summary

Wabtec in Erie, PA seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to sustain continuous improvement using lean manufacturing and related techniques. You will collect data, analyze outputs, and lead actions to improve safety, quality, and overall process effectiveness.

You will drive Lean transformation, lead teams, troubleshoot production issues, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to optimize layouts, workflows, and equipment usage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, MET, EET, or PLET degree or a high school diploma/GED with at least 6-8 years of manufacturing experience.
• Ability to apply lean principles to area rearrangements, NPI, and problem solving.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develops, observes, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods to reduce costs.
• Lead the operational team with a project-based continuous improvement mindset.
• Manage cost accounts and projects related to expense reductions.
• Design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
• Collaborate with planning, design staff, and vendors to ensure efficient production methods.
• Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and improvements.
