Job summary

Allegion is offering a Summer Intern, Operational Excellence Lean in Colorado Springs to support continuous improvement projects and observe current state processes using lean methods. The role includes coaching teams in Lean practices and collaborating on value stream mapping with the Lean Specialist and floor staff.

You are pursuing a bachelor’s or master's program (Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or related), with strong Excel/Visio skills, and a willingness to learn on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s program (Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related).
• Experience with Microsoft Office Excel, Visio, and other various Project/Process Management Tools is preferred, but not required.
• Effective listening, time management, communication, and creative problem-solving techniques.
• Strong willingness to learn, curious about processes, and openness to hands‑on shop floor experience is a must.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher and previous work experience (preferred).
• Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. The company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.) for this employment position.

Responsibilities

• Support continuous improvement projects, collecting data and observing current state processes.
• Implement future state deliverables using lean methodologies.
• Drive Lean behaviors and coach employees and leaders to apply Allegion’s Operational Excellence model.
• Collaborate with value stream teams on process improvements and systems support using value stream mapping.
• Lead Gemba Walks and educate others on continuous improvement, including takt time attainment.
• Develop and maintain visual performance tools and shadow floor operators and management to observe steps.
