Job summary

Allegion is seeking a Summer Intern in Manufacturing Engineering at our Indianapolis Exits facility. You will contribute to assembly, coatings, and new product development projects, gaining hands-on experience with tooling, equipment, and process design.

You will work with engineers, value stream coaches, and operators to learn process capability, problem-solving, and LEAN manufacturing practices while supporting safety, quality and delivery goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative in school or work projects.
• Strong analytical skills and comfort with data across multiple software platforms.
• Effective listening, time management and creative problem-solving techniques.
• Desire to learn, grow and contribute to Allegion’s business and customers.
• Familiarity with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and eagerness to learn process-control software.
• Self-starter attitude; able to manage multiple small tasks under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Implement tactical strategies to achieve the value stream’s goals.
• Support Lean initiatives with process improvements and systems support.
• Provide project updates to Value Stream Leadership on key metrics.
• Participate in Gemba Walks and teach Lean methodologies.
• Maintain visual performance tools and update logs.
• Analyze existing processes and software for design improvements.
• Assist in finishing processes and collect process data for review.
• Support root-cause investigations under guidance of senior engineers.
• Contribute to small improvement projects and fixture designs.
