Job summary

SPXFlow is seeking a college co-op student to join the Mixing Industry Continuous Improvement Team in our New York area facility. The student will assist in improving manufacturing processes to reduce errors and waste and enhance material flow. Tools used include SAP, A3 Problem Solving, Lean methodologies, MS Office, and AutoCAD.

The Co-Op can expect to complete 1-2 A3 Projects and several smaller focus improvements during Spring/Summer 2027.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing BS degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience with Pro-E/Creo, AutoCAD, and/or MasterCam preferred.
  • Writing specifications for complex equipment and working with vendors.
  • Ability to write work instructions and related documentation.
  • DFM knowledge preferred.
  • Basic working knowledge of controls.
  • Positive attitude and hands-on mentality.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze existing production processes, time elements, and balance to optimize line flow, workstation design, ergonomics, and material flow.
  • Develop tooling, fixtures, and simple equipment for new and existing products and processes.
  • Propose innovative manufacturing solutions via process analysis and design for manufacturing.
  • Improve efficiency by planning workflow, space, and equipment layout.
  • Apply Lean and continuous improvement techniques across production areas.
  • Support visual management in a production environment.
  • Evaluate capital equipment investments and prepare cost justifications; draft equipment specs and manage implementation.
  • Identify and address issues related to safety, quality, productivity, cost and delivery.
  • Design and validate testing methods and process capabilities; establish standards.
  • Prepare documentation and standard work; develop work instructions and procedures.
  • Assist leadership with workload analysis and resource optimization.
  • Maintain knowledge through workshops, publications, and professional networks.
