Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Environmental Scientist to lead permitting strategy and environmental assessments across the Gulf region. You will support projects requiring municipal, state, and federal approvals, providing technical guidance and client liaison.

The role offers fieldwork up to 75% travel and may require extended stays in the field; located in Texas with flexibility to work from nearby offices. A Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field is required, with 3–5 years of

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in environmental science, rangeland science, biological resources, or a closely related field.
  • 3–5 years’ experience leading delineations, preferably in the Gulf Region (TX, OK, LA, MS, AR).
  • Local, state, and Federal compliance and environmental permitting experience is a plus.
  • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) or other applicable professional environmental certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support projects and key client relationships— natural gas pipelines, LNG facilities, solar facilities, and other energy-related projects; residential and commercial development; mitigation/conservation banking, water resources infrastructure; and transportation.
  • Lead teams that collect and report on tasks including wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species habitat characterizations, land use mapping and vegetation cover classification, and other natural resource surveys.
  • Assist with preparing work plans, assembling project teams, delegating tasks and ensuring scope and timely completion of tasks.
  • Establishes and maintains quality assurance plans and safety plans for assigned projects.
  • Provide mentorship to early career staff, with potential opportunities for direct supervision.
