Job summary

Stantec seeks an Environmental Scientist to lead important work across the Gulf region, providing permitting strategy, environmental assessment, and technical support for municipal, provincial/state, and federal environmental approvals and licenses.

The role involves guidance on Waters of the U.S. delineations, habitat assessments, NEPA, siting, and complex permitting for renewable energy, transportation, power, government, and development projects in the Gulf region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in environmental science or a closely related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience providing or managing technical services in a professional services setting, Gulf Region preferred.
• PWS or other professional environmental certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support projects and client relationships across permitting, restoration, water resources, transportation, and energy.
• Lead permitting efforts at local, state, national, and federal levels with agency coordination and NEPA/ESA/CWA compliance.
• Lead teams on wetland delineations, species surveys, land use mapping, and habitat characterization.
• Assist in client relations, business development, and preparation of proposals and statements of qualifications.
• Help develop work plans and HSSE plans, assemble project teams, delegate tasks, and ensure timely completion.
• Maintain QA/QC and safety plans; mentor early-career staff and provide supervision as needed.
