Job summary

Alliance Steel Inc. seeks a Quality Manager (CWI) to ensure welding activities meet codes, standards, and customer specs. You will perform visual inspections, maintain records, and drive continuous improvement in welding quality and safety.

Responsibilities include supervising quality personnel, coaching welding teams, and coordinating with contractors. Requires AWS CWI, blueprints literacy, and strong leadership in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership, coaching, and conflict-resolution ability.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage competing demands in a fast-paced shop.
• Ability to interpret production data, identify root causes, and act on them.
• Working knowledge of steel fabrication, material flow, and production scheduling.
• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication documents.
• Effective collaboration with Production, Detailing, Engineering, Safety, and other departments as needed.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production or business software.
• Sound judgment, discretion, and professional representation of Alliance Steel.

Responsibilities

• Supervise quality and ABS leads and assigned quality personnel.
• Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and performance.
• Coach, train, and evaluate employees; assist with hiring, development, and disciplinary action.
• Build a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain and control all quality management system records and documentation.
• Ensure records remain current and compliant with requirements.
• Verify welder qualifications and ensure welding personnel are certified per codes.
• Review drawings and welding symbols for compliance.
• Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Track NCRs, Warranty, and Lost Time; report results to management.
• Identify opportunities to improve shop processes and machinery to improve quality.
• Enforce safety policies and EH&S requirements; promote safety culture.
• Partner with Safety on concerns and corrective actions.
• Communicate goals and schedule changes to supervisors and employees.
• Coach supervisors on leadership and problem resolution.
