How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Lead Welder Repair Technician will lead the welding repair shop and oversee projects to completion. Responsibilities include working independently or directing other technicians on site, as well as training new employees. Extensive experience in welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Aluminum is required.

In particular, you will:
  • Travel to customer sites for troubleshooting, repairs, routine/preventative maintenance, and calibration of Airgas equipment, including:
  • Manual, robotic, and semi-automatic Pulsed Metal Arc Welding (GMAW-P), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), and Plasma Arc Welding (PAW) systems, including custom semi-automatic systems.
  • Orbital tube and pipe welding systems.
  • High purity bulk and cylinder gas systems.
  • Integrated welding and motion control systems.
  • Complete service orders neatly and timely, obtaining customer signatures before leaving.
  • Communicate regularly with management on job status and equipment condition.
  • Interact with vendors, customers, sales staff, and managers regarding repair times and parts ordering.
  • Train other technicians.
  • Maintain diagnostic equipment and tools in good condition and secure them properly daily.
  • Manage a database and schedule for calibration and preventive maintenance of Airgas and customer equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Are you a MATCH?
  • Minimum 5 years experience in welding repair.
  • Frequent local travel (85% of work time).
  • Flexible hours to meet customer needs and management expectations.
  • Willingness to be away from home approximately 10% of the time for customer service calls and training.
  • Reliable transportation and valid US driver’s license.
  • Dedication to product quality and customer satisfaction, representing Airgas professionally.
  • Ability to move up to 60 pounds and transport up to 800 pounds with equipment.
  • Comfort working outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
  • Logical troubleshooting and repair approach.
  • Welding certification is preferred but not required.
