R10067841 Lead Welder Repair Technician (Open)

Location:

Waterford, CT (Regional Office) - Cust. installations

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Lead Welder Repair Technician will be responsible for leading the welding repair shop and managing projects to completion. This role requires working independently or directing other technicians on site, as well as training new employees when necessary. Extensive experience in welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Aluminum is essential.

In particular, you will:

  1. Travel to customer sites to troubleshoot, perform repairs, routine/preventative maintenance (PM), and conduct NIST traceable calibration on all types of Airgas equipment and products, including:
  2. Manual, robotic, and semi-automatic Pulsed Metal Arc Welding (GMAW-P), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), and Plasma Arc Welding (PAW) equipment, including custom semi-automatic systems.
  3. Orbital tube and pipe welding systems.
  4. High purity bulk and cylinder gas systems.
  5. Integrated welding and motion control systems.
  6. Complete all service orders neatly and promptly, obtaining customer signatures before leaving the site.
  7. Regularly communicate with the manager regarding job status, daily activities, and equipment condition.
  8. Interact with vendors, customers, sales staff, and store managers, providing updates on repair times, parts ordering, etc.
  9. Train other technicians.
  10. Maintain diagnostic tools and equipment in good condition, secure at day's end.
  11. Keep a database and schedule for all calibrations and PMs on Airgas and customer equipment.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Are you a MATCH?

  • Minimum 5 years of welding repair experience.
  • Frequent local travel (about 85% of work time).
  • Flexible hours to meet customer needs.
  • Willingness to be away from home for about 10% of the time (approx. 2 days/month) for service calls and training.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid US driver’s license.
  • Commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, representing Airgas professionally.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds regularly and move up to 800 pounds with equipment.
  • Comfort working outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
  • Logical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Welding certification is preferred but not mandatory.
