Job summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) in Huntsville, AL, seeks a Chief Engineer to lead design and development for one or more future weapon systems including missiles and hypersonic concepts. Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline with substantial experience.
  • Broad understanding of chief engineer roles and responsibilities in weapon systems development.
  • Deep understanding of tactical missiles, projectiles or hypersonic vehicles and their subsystems.
  • Ability to teach and mentor other engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide weapon systems engineering guidance across electrical, mechanical, flight software, RF and EO/IR domains.
  • Lead integration, test planning and risk mitigation for weapon system programs.
  • Collaborate with GA-EMS and customer engineering, management and subcontractor teams.
  • Define system architectures and milestones with IMS schedules and budget adherence.
  • Review and refine requirements, verification matrices and ICDs for weapon system applications.
  • Present design status and key technical decisions to stakeholders and customers.

Education

Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in engineering
