Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent for the Tampa, FL area with water and wastewater project experience.

You will direct and supervise all field personnel on water and wastewater treatment plant and line work construction projects. The role requires strong safety leadership, quality control, and coordination of subcontractors, with daily field reporting and timely project completion within budget.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising projects in water/wastewater industry.
• Experience managing craft and self-performing work is preferred.
• Experience with cast-in-place concrete, piping, and mechanical equipment.
• Strong supervisory experience and ability to coordinate multiple teams.
• Good communication and people skills.
• MS Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Competent Person training in Trenching, Scaffolds, Rigging, Confined Space, Fall Protection.
• OSHA 10-hour, First Aid & CPR, SWPPP Inspector, silica, Risk Management, and Accident training.

Responsibilities

• Monitor project safety and enforce policy.
• Ensure quality standards are met or exceeded.
• Plan short-term scheduling of manpower and equipment.
• Coordinate permits and regulatory inspections.
• Maintain field documentation and daily reports.
• Take progress photos and manage materials/inventory.
• Coordinate subcontractors and hire on site as needed.
• Prepare As-Built drawings and participate in post-construction review.
• Manage small tools and ensure contract documents are understood.
• Maintain a clean and orderly jobsite and report scope changes.
