Job summary

The City of Coronado is seeking a Lead Pump Mechanic to manage and perform complex maintenance at wastewater and storm water pumping facilities. The role includes leading crews, coordinating inspections, and driving safety and quality standards.

Qualified candidates will oversee training, scheduling, and coordination with contractors, and may require night/weekend work and a valid Class A license. The department emphasizes teamwork and infrastructure improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in wastewater or sewer line maintenance and repair is required or preferred.
• Possession of or ability to obtain CWEA/CA certifications is desirable.
• Valid California Class A driver’s license with air brake and tanker endorsements is required or obtainable within six months.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan and train staff performing skilled maintenance at wastewater pumping facilities.
• Direct daily inspections, process work orders and manage asset records.
• Oversee safe operation of pumps, valves and associated equipment including electrical work.
• Collaborate with management on infrastructure improvements and program enhancements.
• Ensure compliance with safety, policies and standards; supervise on-call/standby rotations.
