Job summary

Dispatch Bio is seeking a Principal Scientist to lead downstream processing for viral products. You will collaborate with CDMOs to generate lentivirus and adenovirus products, reporting to the Senior Director of Process Development and building internal downstream capabilities for scale up and scale down.

You will oversee tech transfers, serve as downstream SME, design optimization studies across clarification, TFF, chromatography and sterile filtration, and ensure rigorous documentation and

Qualifications

• 10+ years in downstream purification process development in biopharma.
• Experience managing a team.
• Strong understanding of downstream unit operations (clarification, TFF, chromatography, sterile filtration).
• Familiarity with scale up/scale down of purification processes.
• Knowledge of cGMP and biopharma regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee tech transfers and development/scale-up of viral products at CDMOs.
• Serve as downstream SME on internal and external teams.
• Build internal downstream capabilities for process development.
• Design studies to identify critical process parameters and optimize setpoints across steps (clarification, TFF, chromatography, sterile filtration).
• Execute, review data, maintain detailed lab notebooks.
• Author/review batch records, SOPs, development reports and regulatory sections.
• Represent the company externally at meetings with stakeholders.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to advance clinical programs.
